At Bayou, MD, we know that one size does not fit all. We offer several different customized plans. No matter what program you choose, you can receive an email about your diet each day. All emails are specific to your particular nutrition plan for the day and contain cartoons and inspirational quotes for fun and motivation. We will even send you daily exercise suggestions that can help you get moving in the right direction.

How We Are Different
Your healthy weight loss is supervised within a safe, effective, physician-directed plan.* You will be guided by our clinicians, our medical staff and our registered dietitians. No secrets here. Just affordable, safe weight loss in a custom weight loss program.
Here is how the medical weight loss program works:
● First, we test. We perform blood work (4 different panels), an EKG, blood pressure, body fat analysis, and take your personal medical history.
● See the Doctor. You will see one of our board-certified MDs for your first consultation at the clinic. They will go over your test results and medical history with you and suggest one of our diets. They will also decide if you are a good candidate for appetite suppression medication.
● Weekly visits. They are not mandatory, but we like to see you every week at the clinic. When you come in, we talk about your plan successes or problems, adjust the program, and answer any questions you may have.

We personally know how hard it is to lose weight and keep it off. All of our patients want to lose weight for very different reasons that are all very important. Some of the reasons are serious medical concerns, not wanting to buy a new, larger wardrobe, wanting to get into “skinny” jeans, planning for weddings (and planning for divorces), family reunions, summertime or anytime vacations, knee pain, foot pain and pains in the neck (yes, we mean husbands and boyfriends). Other doctors tell them it is time to get serious but don’t offer a clear and decisive weight loss path to follow. Many of our patients are just sick and tired of being sick and tired.
But whatever the reason our patients come in our door, they have made a decision and are ready to lose that weight in a safe and reputable environment.
We provide the education and support you need to reach and maintain your goals. We have the resources to help you achieve your ideal weight and body fat percentage. We have specific weight loss diets for you as a woman. After evaluating your needs, we will start the move towards a healthier you! In addition, we know you have a busy schedule and are more than happy to accommodate you accordingly.
Our Balanced Program includes extensive testing (blood work, EKG, urine analysis) and a visit with one of our providers. The provider will give you a personalized reduced-calorie diet and appetite suppressants (if appropriate). When you get close to your goal weight, we will modify your custom meal plan into a meal plan for life to keep you at your goal weight.
Postpartum Program
We understand that your time is limited as a new mother. Our goal is to assist you in dropping that stubborn baby weight through our weight loss programs for women. We provide unique exercise programs and meal plans that help you achieve an overall level of personal fitness and health.
New mothers can participate in our customized weight loss program as soon as six weeks after giving birth.

Tirzepeptide
Have you heard about a relatively new diabetes medication for weight loss? Ozempic®, Wegovy®, and Rybelsus® are FDA-approved insulin management drugs whose side effects include weight loss of up to 30%. Semaglutide is the active ingredient in Ozempic®, Wegovy®, and Rybelsus® . Because these medications are on the FDA shortage list and difficult to obtain, compounding pharmacies are able to prepare a compounded version of the drug. Our clinic prescribes compounded Semaglutide. Our prices are significantly lower than brand name formulations. Our patients are achieving similar results with this alternative! Semaglutide for chronic weight management is a turning point in the treatment of obesity.
How it Works
Semaglutide is a once-weekly injectable available for the chronic management of obesity. It mimics your body’s own natural appetite-suppressing hormone and improves your ability to regulate blood sugar levels. It helps with weight loss by reducing hunger and stabilizing blood sugar.
Results
● 15% average weight loss in patients treated with Semaglutide along with behavioral intervention.
● Sugar control and risk for heart disease was dramatically improved in the patients who lost about 10% of body weight with Semaglutide.
● Unlike other anti-obesity medications, there was no plateau phase after 28 weeks of treatment. Weight loss with Semaglutide treated arm continued until the end of 68 weeks trial.
● 1/3 of the participants lost about 20% of the bodyweight which is almost comparable to that of bariatric surgery.

Tirzepeptide
Have you heard about relatively new diabetes medications for weight loss? Mounjaro® is an injectable prescription medicine that is used to treat adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. TIRZEPATIDE is the active ingredient in Mounjaro®. New weight loss injections are all medications that fall under the category of GLP-1 receptor agonists. This class of medications has been around since 2005. TIREPATIDE can help you optimize your metabolism and boost weight loss. In clinical trials, weight loss in adults ranged from 12 – 25 pounds. Tirzepeptide is not yet FDA-approved for the treatment of weight loss. Our clinic prescribes a compounded version of TIRZEPATIDE and uses it “off-label” for the treatment of weight loss.

Lipotropic Injections
Lipotropic Enzymes + B12 (Methylcobalamin) + Additional B Vitamins + other amino acids
We added additional ingredients to our B Complex injection to form our Lipo PLUS injection. B Vitamins work so closely with one other that a deficiency in any one B Vitamin can lead to poor functioning of any or all of the others even if they are in good supply.

Choline
Choline supports the health of the liver in its processing and excretion of chemical waste products within the body. Moreover, it is required for the transport and metabolism of fats and cholesterol within the body, which is important for the healthy support of the endocrine, cardiovascular and hepatic systems.
Methionine
Methionine is one of the sulfur-containing amino acids (cysteine & cystine are others) and is important for many bodily functions. It acts as a lipotropic agent to prevent excess fat buildup in the liver and the body, is helpful in relieving or preventing fatigue and may be useful in some cases of allergy because it reduces histamine release. Patients with a Sulfa allergy should not take this injection.
Inositol
Inositol, a nutrient belonging to the B vitamin complex, is closely associated with Choline. It aids in the metabolism of fats and helps reduce blood cholesterol. Inositol participates in action of serotonin, a neurotransmitter known to control mood and appetite. The different ingredients of this mixture are known to have the following attributes: Proper metabolism of fats and removal of fat from the liver. Energy boost. Speed up thought process and improve mood. Building blocks for cell walls. Essential components for normal cell and brain function. Help control cholesterol levels and gallstones. Helps emulsify cholesterol and detoxify amines. Helps keep healthy skin tone and strong nails. Promote healthy hair growth, and controlling estrogen levels. Help with transforming carbohydrates into energy. Aiding in digestion.
Thiamin (B1)
Thiamin is an important coenzyme that helps the body convert food into energy. It also assists in manufacturing fat and metabolizing protein. Thiamin is necessary to maintain normal function in the nervous system while playing a part in the chain of reactions that provides energy for the body. It is thought to be beneficial for people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and older adults with mental impairment. Thiamin studies on volunteers have claimed an increase in mental acuity.
Riboflavin (B2)
Riboflavin works together with the family of B-complex vitamins to provide the body with energy by metabolizing carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. It also helps in the regeneration of glutathione, an enzyme that rids the body of free radicals. Riboflavin may be able to decrease the number of migraine headaches a person has. It might also help to prevent cataracts. Riboflavin has helped to increase iron levels for those suffering from iron-deficiency anemia.
Niacinamide (B3)
Niacin works with other b-complex vitamins to metabolize food and provide energy for the body. Niacin is very effective at correcting high cholesterol and preventing or reversing heart disease. It can be used to treat insulin-dependent diabetes. Some studies indicate it might also be effective in treating arthritis and migraine headaches.
Pantothenic Acid (B5)
Pantothenic Acid helps the body extract energy from carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. It also helps to metabolize fats and produce red blood cells and hormones from the adrenal gland. Vitamin B5 might be useful in treating rheumatoid arthritis. It could also be used to lower blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Pantothenic acid is commonly found in “anti-stress” formulas because it works with the adrenal gland to produce stress hormones.
Pyridixone (B6)
Pyridixone is effective against more than 100 health conditions. It’s used against maladies as serious as heart disease and everyday aggravations such as premenstrual syndrome and sensitivity to MSG. It can even help prevent the formation of kidney stones.
Methylcobalamin (B12)
B-12 is an essential vitamin that helps to form new, healthy cells in the body. It also boosts energy, helping to increase activity levels, which is often a concern for many patients. Additionally, B-12 can provide improved sleep, relief from allergies and stress, and can combat moodiness, as it is an essential vitamin for the nervous system. Using it as a supplement with our weight loss system will enhance your weight loss results. The vitamin cocktail included in the B12 and Lipotropic shots are compounds that enhance liver function and increase the flow of fats and bile from the liver and gallbladder. By definition, a lipotropic substance decreases the deposit or speeds up the removal of fat within the liver. The key amino acids used to make these shots are Vitamin B12, Choline, Methione, and Inositol. Our LIPO PLUS injections contain a proprietary solution of Ascorbic Acid (C), Thiamine (B1), Riboflavin (B2), Niacinamide (B3), Pantothenic Acid (B5), Pyridoxal Phosphate (B6), Methylcobalamin (B12), Methionine, Inositol, Choline and Lidocaine.
New prescription weight loss drugs have now been approved by the FDA.
Which, if any, is right for you? All obesity medication help some people lose weight. None of these medications are for everyone, and they are all quite different.
Saxenda
Saxenda is the fourth drug for weight loss approved by the FDA since 2012. It’s already available in a lower dose as Victoza for type 2 diabetes. Researchers began to study it as an obesity treatment after people on Victoza reported weight loss. Saxenda, like Victoza, is injected daily. It’s approved for people with a body mass index (BMI) of 30, considered obese, or a BMI of 27 with weight-related conditions such as high blood pressure. It’s meant to be used with exercise and a reduced-calorie diet. It costs $750 per month.
Contrave
Contrave is approved for those who are obese and also for those who are overweight with risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes. Contrave combines two drugs already on the market: bupropion (Wellbutrin), an antidepressant, and naltrexone, an anti-addiction drug. Because it contains bupropion, Contrave has a boxed warning to alert doctors and patients to the increased risk of suicidal thoughts that are linked with antidepressants. Contrave costs between $180 to $210 per month.
Qsymia
Qsymia is now available, but by mail order only. Qsymia, which is taken once a day, uses a one-two punch to spur weight loss. It combines low doses of topiramate, used to treat seizures and migraines, and phentermine, a currently available mild stimulant approved by the FDA for weight loss. Phentermine suppresses appetite soon after the pill is taken, and topiramate (which kicks in later in the day) creates a sense of feeling full. In the FDA reviewed clinical trials, Qsymia has been proven to help patients lose between 10% and 15% of their body weight over a year’s period as well as improve various cardiovascular aspects. Further studies have shown that this mixture has also had good results when studied as a sleep apnea treatment. It costs between $135 and $184 per month.
Belviq
Belviq works by targeting specific serotonin receptors in the brain linked with feelings of satiety, leading patients to feel full. The FDA has approved Beviq for adults who are obese or who are overweight and have at least one serious medical condition, such as diabetes or high cholesterol. The approved labeling for Belviq also recommends that people discontinue the drug if they fail to lose 5% of their body weight after 12 weeks as longer treatment is unlikely to lead to meaningful weight loss. Belviq is classified as a Schedule IV controlled substance, which means it has a low potential for abuse. Belviq costs between $200 and $225 a month.

You asked for it, and now we offer it! Bayou MD’s new and easy Ketogenic Diet! It is easy to follow, and makes you feel full despite having fewer calories while providing you with more energy.
Over 20 peer reviewed studies show that this type of plan can help you lose weight and improve your health. The ketogenic program involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat. The reduction in carbs puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis, and when this happens, your body becomes incredibly efficient at breaking down and burning fat for energy. Byproducts of this fat breakdown are called ketones. It’s important to monitor ketones, and our medical staff will assist you with the process of measuring the level of ketones in your urine and in your blood to determine if you are in ketosis.
