Jennifer Ourso Straney, MD
Jennifer Ourso Straney, MD is a board certified obstetrician gynecologist physician. Dr. Straney is a native of Donaldsonville, LA and graduate of Ascension Catholic High School. She attended Louisiana State University where she finished Summa Cum Lade with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Biological Sciences with a minor in Spanish. She continued her medical education at Ross University School of Medicine, where she graduated with highest honors. After medical school, she returned to Louisiana and completed her Obstetric and Gynecology residency at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, where she served as Chief Resident.
She is board certified as a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She underwent further training in the field of obesity medicine and received board certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine in 2017. She is a member of various medical societies including the Obesity Medicine Association, Obesity Action Coalition, and the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Dr. Straney resides in Thibodaux, LA with her husband, Michael, and their children, Eleanor, Amelia, and Joseph. Outside of medicine, Dr. Straney enjoys cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
Michael J. Straney, MD
Michael J. Straney, MD is a board certified Emergency Medicine physician. Dr. Straney was born and raised in Spring, TX. Upon graduation from high school, he served in the United States Marine Corps as an Infantry Assaultman. Following an honorable discharge, Dr. Straney attended Texas A&M University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Biomedical Science and Entomology. His education continued at Ross University School of Medicine where he graduated with Highest Honors. Dr. Straney met his future wife, a Louisiana native, in medical school and relocated to continue his medical training here in Louisiana.
He completed an internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. He then completed his Emergency Medicine residency at LSU Health Baton Rouge where he served his final year as Administrative Chief Resident. Dr. Straney is a diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He underwent further training in the field of obesity medicine and received board certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine in 2017. He is a member of various medical societies including the Obesity Medicine Association, Obesity Action Coalition, and the American College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Straney currently resides in Thibodaux, LA with his wife and three children. Outside of medicine, he enjoys fishing and cooking.
